8 Tips to Better Architecture Diagrams

A good architecture diagram (aka a cloud architecture diagram or system architecture diagram) gives a great overview of your project. It lets you see at a glance what the overall structure of the solution is.

This is useful for gaining an understanding of how the system fits together, how it flows, and what it does. It also helps to easily show which components can be improved, are due to be updated or could be better components (or improved architectural guidelines.)

Keep reading to find out how to create better architectural diagrams & how use them well

SSW User Groups: We're moving online and combining our groups for the foreseeable future - more talks for everyone!

The 5 important questions about .NET 5 by Brendan Richards

Back in 2016 Microsoft made the brave step of building a brand new .Net Core away from the classic "Full Framework" .NET. This meant they were able to hit the "Redo button" in so many ways, bringing us the modern, open-source, fast and cross-platform framework that we use today.

But now in 2020, Microsoft have delivered what they promised us in the roadmaps. The story has come full-circle with the release of .NET 5 – finally bringing us back to one .NET to rule them all.

In this talk we’ll answer the 5 important questions:

  1. What will .NET 5 mean for my .NET Core projects?
  2. What will .NET 5 mean for my old full-framework projects?
  3. What’s new?
  4. What’s coming next?
  5. Will Microsoft ever get better at naming things? (Or does it make total logical sense)

Brendan Richards

Brendan Richards is a Solution Architect at SSW Brisbane and has been delivering successful web projects across diverse platforms and technologies since 1999.
